Teton Gravity Research

576% sales lift at a sustained 7.2 ROAS.

Teton Gravity Research is the action-sports media company behind some of the most-watched ski and outdoor films of the last two decades. We operate the Shopify ecommerce stack, the Google Cloud infrastructure that powers their large-media distribution, and the paid programs across Meta, Google, and email.

Multi-year

576% sales lift at a sustained 7.2 ROAS.

Teton Gravity Research operates a hybrid business — film production, an action-sports magazine, and a direct-to-consumer ecommerce store that sells branded merchandise alongside film and content drops. The challenge across all of it: serve massive media files (films, broadcast assets, archive footage) while running an ecommerce store that performs during traffic spikes from new film releases.

We built the foundation across both sides. Google Cloud infrastructure for the large-media hosting layer that handles film distribution. The Shopify ecommerce platform tuned for traffic spikes during release windows. And the paid media programs across Meta and Google that drive the audience to both the films and the merchandise.

The numbers, year-over-year: 576% increase in sales, a sustained 7.2 ROAS on paid spend, and +14% email list growth to a 75K-subscriber base. The infrastructure side meant film releases didn't crash the store. The ecommerce side meant audience traffic actually converted. Together, they put TGR's commerce arm on a different trajectory than the rest of the action-sports category.

What we built

The stack,
layer by layer.

Cloud

Google Cloud infrastructure

Compute, storage, and networking for TGR's large-media operation. Designed to handle the spike traffic of a film release without manual scaling — releases happen on a schedule, but viewer demand isn't predictable to the minute.

Media

Large-media hosting

Storage and delivery for films, broadcast-quality footage, and archive content. The stack is designed for sustained throughput on big files, not just static-asset speed.

Web

Shopify ecommerce

Branded ecommerce store for TGR merchandise, film purchases, and event ticketing. Configured for traffic spikes timed to film releases — the store doesn't go down on launch day.

Paid

Multi-channel paid media

Meta and Google Ads programs aligned with the film release calendar. Creative iteration, audience layering, and budget pacing tied to launch windows. The 7.2 ROAS is on the paid spend (Google ROAS as high as 6.20 standalone), sustained over multi-year measurement.

Email

Email & lifecycle

List building, launch sequences for film and merch drops, post-purchase flows. The list grew 14% over the engagement to 75K+ subscribers across Shopify and Mailchimp sources, tied directly to ecommerce attribution.

Content

Content marketing

Editorial and content production aligned to the YouTube + film distribution flywheel. Reach amplifies merch demand; merch sales finance more reach.

Mobile

iOS + Android mobile app

Custom mobile apps for the TGR Forums and TGR TV streaming experience — UI/UX wireframes through App Store and Play Store approval. Extends the brand into a second screen most action-sports peers don't operate.

Photography

Product photography

Studio shoots, edits, and digital-asset management for goggles, hats, apparel, and sunglasses. The catalog imagery the Shopify store and paid creative both run on.
